Who We Help and What We Do

Wotherspoon Environmental works with organizations in the energy industry and municipalities across Western Canada. Many of our clients are dealing with compliance issues, gaps in staff training, or uncertainty about how prepared they really are for an emergency. We help close those gaps with practical, fit-for-purpose programs built around each client's actual operations, not generic templates pulled off a shelf. Our goal is to give organizations the tools and confidence to manage their environmental responsibilities without added guesswork.

  • Compliance and regulatory support
  • Emergency preparedness training
  • Fit-for-purpose environmental programs

Built on Decades in the Field

As an environmental consulting group since 1986, Wotherspoon Environmental has grown from a single Professional Engineer into a qualified multidisciplinary team based in Calgary, Alberta. That growth came from applying real operational experience, not just technical theory, to the upstream petroleum, industrial insurance, and property management sectors. Every project since has built on that same foundation of practical, hands-on knowledge, which is why our team still approaches new work the same way it always has: understand the operation first, then build the solution around it.

Why We Do This Work

Our mission is simple. We provide environmental management and operational services that are cost-effective and that genuinely protect your people and the environment. That mission is guided by three core values: commitment, adaptability, and collaboration. These values shape how our team of professionals approaches every project, whether it is a straightforward compliance audit or a complex emergency response plan. They also shape how we treat the relationship itself, since we see our role as an ongoing partner rather than a one-time service provider brought in to solve a single problem.

A Team Built on Specialized Expertise

Each member of the WEI team focuses on a specific discipline, from waste management to emergency response coordination to environmental liability, while still working together on an inter-disciplinary basis when a project calls for it. Continuing education is part of how we operate, with team members completing industry training, workshops, and conferences every year to stay current. That combination of focused expertise and shared knowledge is what allows our WEI environmental consultants to take on projects that cross multiple technical areas without losing sight of the bigger picture.

How We Work With Clients

Every organization we work with has different objectives, risks, and regulatory pressures, so our approach starts with understanding those specifics before we recommend anything. From there, we assess risk, develop a practical solution, and stay in communication throughout implementation. Wotherspoon Environmental Calgary clients can expect a process that stays grounded in their actual operations rather than a one-size-fits-all template, with support that continues well after the initial plan is delivered.

1

Understanding Objectives

We start by learning what your organization needs to achieve and why it matters to your operations.

2

Assessing Risk

We identify the operational, environmental, and regulatory risks specific to your project or site.

3

Developing Solutions

We build a program or plan that fits your actual operations instead of a generic model.

4

Maintaining Communication

We keep you informed at every stage so there are no surprises along the way.

5

Supporting Implementation

We help put the plan into action rather than simply handing over a report.

6

Providing Ongoing Support

We stay available as your organization's needs and regulatory environment change over time.
